Blue Man Inspiration

This assemblage was inspired by a person I met in a workshop a few weeks ago. Every time I heard him say
"NEVER give up!"....(about nothing specific, nor to anyone specific), I had a vision of an aquamarine figure with wings, a heart in one hand, and a sword in the other. It was all I could do to not talk about my seeing a blue man with wings! :-)

I knew I had to somehow give "voice" to my idea, and when it reached the top of my "to do" list, it kind of created itself. I worked without thinking, knowing that if I paused, I would get stuck in the "how" of it. I just happened to have everything I needed in my studio, including the old carved frame which turned out to be perfect once I removed the glass and gave it a new rich, but dull, gold background.

Just as unusual (for me) is the fact that I mailed it off yesterday, not even knowing whether the person who inspired this piece would appreciate it.:-) Life is so much fun when I follow my inspirations! It is at times like these that I understand what it means to
be "in the flow".

Materials used are wood, plastic, glass, fabric (wings, butterfly), metal, fibers for stuffing the body cavity, jewelry pieces, colored sand, paper, and a dyed feather.
