Creativity

I think the reason so many people bemoan their lack of creativity is that their definition is too narrow. Creativity can be found in every aspect of life. There are creative ways to do every job on earth, as well as creative solutions to every problem. Most of us are actually creative!

How do you suddenly think of yourself differently when you've lived life believing you aren't very creative? Open your eyes to the inventive moments of your day, and if you tell yourself you are creative, you then will begin to believe. Every time you think something that you have never heard before, you are creating. Every time you solve a problem, you are creating. This kind of broader thinking will help you remove your limits, and get you though periods of self-doubt.

Ooh, this reminds me of my favorite Agatha Christie quote. It's from her Autobiography:

"The creative urge can come out in any form: in embroidery, in the cooking of interesting dishes, in painting, drawing and sculpture, in composing music, as well as in writing books and stories... the artist's inner satisfaction was probably much the same."

Thank you for reminding me, Chaska.

Thanks for the reminder!! All so true!! We put ourselves and others in boxes that we think are made of concrete when they are really made of cardboard. Thank goodness, that once we realize this, all it takes is a little push, and we can be free!

Well said! I am the oldest of 7 and we are all creative in different ways. Some use fabric, some baking, some teaching, some art. It doesn't matter what your medium is, it's how passionate you are about it.
