Fiber Art by Oscar Silva
Yesterday was a wonderful day! A good friend took me for a ride through the beautiful Texas countryside to the studio of Oscar Silva whose work knocked my socks off.
First, there were a few walls full of shadow box assemblages using a variety of natural materials, beads, and metal. They reminded me of my own work, yet they were so very different.
Then there were small whimsical vessels shaped a bit like gourds. I wanted every one of them.
The larger hanging pieces incorporated weaving, knotting and wrapping techniques. A feast for the eyes and for the soul.
