What Are You Creating?

I mean this sincerely. What ARE you creating?
Is summer more or less productive for you?

Here it is very hot and I slow down a lot. (The other day, my car thermometer read 112 degrees!) My reason (excuse?) is that it's just too hot to go out and spray paint my boxes, too hot to hunt for odd bits for my assemblages.....and, frankly, sales could be brisker. But, really, does it matter what "they" think? Don't we create art primarily because it makes US happy?

Right now, I am...as they say in Texas...fixin' to create Feng Shui altar boxes and am in the prep stages. I need more supplies. But, what about you?

It's about the same over here on this side of TX, Chaska, minus the extremely high humidity y'all suffer in those parts!! Was that Texan?? LOL If the humidity reaches over 20%, though, we're dying because we're used to the "dry" heat!! I make it a point not to visit Austin this time of year unless it's an emergency. I will, however, be heading that direction at the end of Sept., first weekend of Oct. Going to celebrate a good friend's 59 birthday...heading to Whimberly for the festivities. I just hope the cedars aren't wreaking havoc on my allergies then...we don't have them out here and poor sinus' misbehave due to the cedars.

As for creating, I find myself going through spurts. Right now, I know I should be making more Day of the Dead ornies and alters for the gallery in AZ, but these lazy, hazy days of summer are just keeping me away from the studio and I'm reading more...I don't "sweat" while I'm reading!! However, I'm involved in a couple of challenges over at ADO, Art Dolls Only, and it's motivating me to get back into the studio saddle.

As they say, "I don't know much about art, but I know what I like," and I like most everything I make. As for sales, they're non-existent for me right now!! Have a creative week.

xxoo,
Georgina

I am the same - it's just been too hot!
Last night about 5PM I went outside and was shocked because it was comfortable. I was so happy to be comfortable. When I went inside I checked the internet and it was a cool 90 degrees. Positively refreshing!

My brain was having technical difficulties and I was unable to leave a response earlier to you, Georgina. A big thank you for the complete description of your present artistic life.

At least I'm not the only one suffering from heat inspired ennui.:-)

Thank you both for writing!!!

Ah, like the rest of you it is just too hot to do much. So, I hide inside, except for the daily romp around the greenhouse looking for slugs, gak! I did some altered accesories for holiday gifts. And, I have a large hand stiching project in the works that will become a large piece of fiber wall art! You can see some of my projects on my blog at www.strawmountainblog.blogspot.com. Stay cool everyone!
