Back from Houston

I am a very happy camper!  If spending a day at the Houston Quilt Show is wonderful, three days spent there is fabulous!  I did not see it all in even three days!
It is the biggest convention in Houston all year, bringing 35 million in revenue to the City.

There is so much to do!  Lectures and classes in the quilting arts as well as in mixed media run daily,  and there are also day trips one can take to area attractions....this being aimed mostly at the international visitors.

There is so much to see!  The exhibit includes fabulous quilts of all kinds, art dolls and some wearable art.  I could easily spent three happy days just in in this area!

There is so much to buy!  Fabrics, fabrics, fabrics.  But, also lots and lots of embellishments of all kinds. I saw new-to-me products demonstrated...and, of course, they came home with me. :-)

There are so many interesting people to meet!  The staff, the volunteers, the vendors, and the attendees....all were helpful, friendly, and happy. For me, this put the whole experience over the top.

Eye Candy & Shopping Frenzy

NOT YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S QUILT!

I'm off to Houston for three days at the International Quilt Festival. People come to this from as far away as Australia and South Africa.

On exhibit will be acres of the most incredible quilts....Just look at these few examples from last year's exhibit! These are works of art which happen to be painted with fabric.

There will also be acres of vendors, yes, lots of fabric, but also all kinds of interesting mixed media "dodads".....definitely a shopping extravaganza.

Ultimate Shopping

I sent in my registration today!!!  Although the Houston Quilt Festival October 15-18 IS the ultimate shopping experience, it is much more than that.
I am going for three days of mixed media classes PLUS shopping!  If you are a fiber or mixed media artist, it is the an ultimate experience overall.  This year I feel especially blessed as I'll be attending the shopper's preview night, and also seeing the fashion show.

People fly in from as far away as Australia, England, and beyond.....it's that big of a deal. Can you tell I'm excited about this?
