Two New Box Shrines

"The Alchemist" refers to all agents of change, be they chemists, shamans, or artists. This was my first assemblage in many months, and I had a rough time working in a cleaned up studio. It is "well seasoned" now.:-) I work best in organized chaos which to someone else might look like a "total mess". It's a good thing I don't feel that way about the rest of the house!

When I was in Tanzania I saw hundreds upon hundreds of zebras, and learned that each one was different. Looking at groups of them, it's easy to see them as being the same, but really looking at individuals it's easy to see that each one has a unique striping pattern. And, so it is for the rest of us. "No Two Alike" is the name of the piece.

The Path of The Heart

Here are two more mixed media shrine boxes by Doreen Grozinger.

I confess that I have never thought it possible to use a cigar box which opens in this way successfully, showing me just how set in my thinking I can be.:-)

Doreen says about her shrine, "Excavating the Heart":
When I was in high school, a friend said to me, "You always seem to be searching for that heart of gold" and she was right.  Little did I know at the time, that this heart was inside of me all along, I just needed to dig deep and open it up.

Coming from the intellect most of the time, it has been a process for me to look to my heart.  Listening to what it has to say - let it take wings and fly......

This is Doreen's beautiful Chakra Box.
Following the path of the heart.
We travel here on earth between the earth and sky, finding our way, the middle way. To me, that way is the path of heart.

Fabulous Boxes

Today, I share with you the work of California artist, Betty Radford.  I met Betty in 2003 when she signed up for every single class I taught in Danville, CA.  It wasn't just her enthusiasm which impressed me, but what I saw to be tremendous talent.  Betty's work inspires me!

Horizontal cigar boxI would love this on my coffee table!
